It is the CU Boulder campus policy to place
walking as the highest priority for reconstruction and campus planning:
'Pedestrian travel will continue to be encouraged as the primary
mode of travel on all Boulder campuses.'

'Pedestrian travel is the real measure
of accessibility of the transportation system. Walking is the
original mode of travel and is essential to all other modes.'

First
An earth-friendly education program, "Feet First is an innovative grassroots
program that explores the link between active transportation, healthy bodies,
responsible environmentalism and strong communities. The program teaches
children and their parents about alternatives to single-occupancy vehicles
and the myriad benefits of reducing car use. Feet First, was piloted in April
2000 in three schools in the Denver area. Since then, the program has reached
over 1200 students in the metro-area."

and to encourage people to enjoy the pleasures of walking."

"The PBIC is a clearinghouse for information about health and safety, engineering,
advocacy, education, enforcement and access and mobility. The PBIC serves anyone
interested in pedestrian and bicycle issues, including planners, engineers, private
citizens, advocates, educators, police enforcement and the health community."
