Green Teams
Green Teams share environmental information with students who live on the Hill or in the Goss/ Grove area. Mainly, the Green Teams help give recycling information to residents of off-campus households. Since many students are living on their own for the first time, Green Teams help get them off to the right start. Hopefully, they’ll keep good habits in future houses too.
We need your help to distribute information on what, when, where and how to properly recycle. Additionally, the Green Teams share other ‘green’ info—such as composting, energy and water conservation, and waste reduction—to student households.
The Green Teams meet Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5:00pm in the Environmental Center (University Memorial Center, Room 355). Plan to spend 2 hours spreading the word on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays. Training and materials will be provided. For more info, call 303-492-8307 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
SWAT Teams
CU Recycling's SWAT (Save the World Action Team) give crazy reminders to students about recycling.
CU Recycling staff and volunteers dressed in capes and costumes use a range of tactics to bring recycling to forefront of the CU student’s mind. These include: the recycle train, recycling cheers, recycling ambushes and pop quizzes. You’ll find the SWAT teams located near trash cans and recycling bins in the UMC Fountain and around Hellems Lawn.
RecycleMania
RecycleMania is a friendly competition among university recycling programs in the United States that provides students with a fun, proactive activity in waste reduction. Over a 10-week period, schools compete in different contests to see which institution can collect the largest amount of recyclables, the least amount of trash, and have the highest recycling rate.
CU Recycling competed for the first time in 2005 placing 9th. The 2006 competition begins on January 29th and runs through April 8th. This year let’s beat CSU
