Traveling the U.S. in a bus powered solely by vegetable oil and biodiesel fuel, We the Planet will make a stop at the University of Colorado to host a solution-oriented discussion which will cover global issues in the context of local communities, emphasizing the seemingly small but incredibly influential things each attendee can do to improve the condition of today's world.

The public is invited and will hear from Circle of Life founder Julia Butterfly Hill, Oscar-nominated actor and environmentalist, Woody Harrelson, and singer Johnette Napolitano, who will also perform a short acoustic set.

For 738 days Julia Butterfly Hill lived in the canopy of an ancient redwood tree, called Luna, to help make the world aware of the plight of ancient forests. Julia, with the great help of steelworkers and environmentalists, successfully negotiated to permanently protect the 1,000 year-old tree and a nearly three-acre buffer zone. Julia and other forest activists founded Circle of Life to inspire, support and network individuals, organizations, and communities so together we can create environmental and social solutions that are rooted deeply in love and respect for the interconnectedness of all life.

Woody Harrelson, Oscar-nominated actor and activist, is known for his outspokenness and willingness to truly "walk the walk." Woody has channeled his energies into various environmental causes, including the saving of the California redwoods and other endangered forests. Woody Harrelson will be bringing his specially constructed tour bus, "The Mothership." The fuel for the vehicle is biodiesel and the primary electrical power source of the Mothership is solar.

Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde, recently reunited, is one of the more spirited singers/songwriters of today. Concrete Blonde was originally formed in 1981 amidst the post-punk era that spawned such notable LA bands as X, Wall of Voodoo and The Plimsouls. Lead singer, songwriter and bassist Johnette Napolitano founded the band along with guitarist Jim Mankey (former bassist of Sparks.) She will share her musings and her music during a 20-30 minute acoustic set.

Quianna Ray (a.k.a. LadySpeech) is a 22-year-old poet, spoken word performer, and activist who teaches life skills at Curtis Park Community Center to 3-5th graders. She is also a peer facilitator for the Phenomenal Women, a group meeting every other Thursday, in Denver. Her activism has surrounded mostly women's and children's issues, HIV education and the crisis in the Middle East, specifically Israel and Palestine.

Charris Ford (a.k.a. the Granola Ayatollah of Canola) is a biodiesel activist, sustainable & organic farmer, and eco-rapper. He is a passionate advocate working to raise awareness about alternative fuels around the country and has been running his own vehicle on pure biodiesel for the last three years. He and the Grassolean Team produce biodiesel from recycled french fry grease and have been instrumental in launching the nation's first 100% biodiesel city bus in Telluride, Colorado.

We The Planet builds on the success of the groundbreaking eco-friendly launch festival in San Francisco last April featuring De La Soul, Cake, Alanis Morissette, Flea and many more. Attended by some 10,000 fans, the concert left virtually zero waste, and was powered by biodiesel fuel generators and solar panels without using any of the city's electric power.

Proving that "consciousness is cool"™, the tour is itself an example of such day-to-day decisions to protect the earth, from the biodiesel bus to the tour's promotional material and tickets which will be printed on tree-free and recycled paper, courtesy of Living Tree Paper Company.

We The Planet is produced by The Spitfire Agency, and sponsored by CLIF Bar, the first major energy bar to receive organic certification. All 13 flavors are now made from at least 70% organic ingredients. The tour is also supported nationally by Mother Jones Magazine, Rock the Vote, and Bitch Magazine.

About Circle of Life:
In 1999, Julia Butterfly Hill founded the Circle of Life ("COL"), while living in a 200 foot tall, 1,000 year old redwood tree named Luna. Julia Butterfly Hill's historic tree-sit gave national and international attention to the plight of the old growth redwoods. From those roots, Circle of Life continues to provide a spiritually grounded, enthusiastic voice to a new generation of activism. By leveraging Julia Butterfly Hill's widely accessible and deeply spiritual message, COL has reached out to millions of individuals, organizations, and political candidates, many of whom would not otherwise be drawn to environmental issues at all. It is Julia's leadership, spirit and vision, coupled with COL's networking and action support capacity that has given birth to countless new allies in our movement. About The Spitfire Agency:
The Spitfire Agency is a full service production, promotion & marketing agency dedicated to progressive ideas, non profits, responsible businesses, and other activist related ventures. In addition to We The Planet, The Spitfire Agency is behind the Indigo Girls Honor The Earth tour, Woody Harrelson's Simple Organic Living Tour, and the flagship Spitfire Tour. About Biodiesel:
Biodiesel is the name of a clean burning alternative fuel, produced from domestic, renewable resources. Biodiesel contains no petroleum, but it can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend. It can be used in diesel engines with no major modifications. Biodiesel is simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic, and essentially free of sulfur and aromatics. For more information on biodiesel go to www.biodiesel.org.
