CU-BOULDER BICYCLE BASH
FEATURING BUFF BUS BIODIESEL
SET FOR APRIL 2 AT UMC
CU-Boulder students, faculty, staff and community members are
encouraged to dust off their bicycles and get ready to ride to the
first CU Bicycle Bash Featuring Buff Bus Biodiesel on Wednesday,
April 2.
The CU-Boulder Environmental Center and Parking and
Transportation Services are sponsoring the bash from 11 a.m. to 3
p.m. at the University Memorial Center's Dalton Trumbo Fountain
Court. The bash will feature the unveiling of the new Buff Bus
Biodiesel project, the University of Colorado Credit Union bike loan
program and the CU Student Bike Rental Program.
"We want to encourage everyone to welcome the spring and ride
their bicycle to school or work on April 2," said CU student and
event promoter Ryan Patterson. "The bash is the perfect opportunity
for everyone to come learn about bicycling in Boulder, meet local
bicycle groups and vendors and learn about biodiesel on campus."
Bicycle riders will have the chance to register their
bicycles with CU for $5 on the spot, get a $10 tune-up from the
Sports Garage or Full Cycle, buy discounted helmets and locks and
win prizes. Bicycle commuters also will be able to learn about
electric bicycles, local clubs and cycling opportunities in and
around Boulder.
"I would encourage everyone to take this opportunity to
register their bike and get a good lock," said Mark Stevens, CU
transportation outreach coordinator. "Both can help you keep your
bike safe for an enjoyable summer of riding."
Local businesses including Cold Stone Creamery, Juice Stop
and Gramazzio's are offering a free treat to anyone who bikes to
school or work that day and stops at their shop with their bicycle
on the way to the Bicycle Bash.
The CU Bicycle Bash will be held rain or shine and is planned
to be held annually. For more information call (303) 735-2705.
