The Colorado Sustainability Summit will provide a networking forum for representatives from each of Colorado's campuses to learn about a variety of environmental issues facing institutions, explore ways of improving campus practices and policies, and ultimately work toward environmental and economic sustainability.
Institutions of higher education have a crucial role to play in advancing the goal of a sustainable society, through their roles in both research and education. Successful efforts to increase sustainability at colleges and universities can have a large impact by providing an example for the larger community and by helping to shape the values and behaviors of students. Given the State's fiscal crisis, there is no better time to explore how to conserve both natural and financial resources.
By sharing success stories, networking, and exploring opportunities for collaboration, the Sustainability Summit with help students, faculty, staff, administrators, community members and state leaders replicate past successes and innovate new programs to make Colorado's colleges and universities national leaders in campus sustainability.
