A survey on environmental issues, conducted in the fall at each of the four campuses, established the need to explore opportunities for collaboration among the four CU campuses. To allow for collaboration, the 2002 Campus Earth Summit encompasses the entire University of Colorado system. The event is designed to provide a forum for faculty, staff, administrators, and students from each of the campuses to network and address how to improve procurement of environmentally-responsible products, waste reduction and recycling, energy efficiency and conservation, transportation, building and grounds pest management, and more. It allows participants to explore ways of improving the environmental practices and policies of the CU system and of individual campuses. By identifying where we can improve our policies and practices, we are closer to becoming sustainable campuses.
George Bandy II - the Summit's keynote speaker.
