We created this website for anyone and everyone who needs more information about, Global Climate Change, energy efficiency, energy conservation, and the future of clean and renewable energy use at CU and around the country.  Together, we can Turn Off Climate Change!

The University of Colorado Environmental Center Energy Program is working to create an understanding in the CU community about how our energy use directly relates to the production of CO2 –a major contributor to Global Climate Change. We employ peer-to-peer education to communicate how to efficiently conserve energy on and off-campus.  By educating each other, we are able to increase awareness about energy use, energy conservation, and Climate Change.

We understand that one of the challenges of Global Climate Change, and the opportunity it offers America and the world is to change the way we consume energy.  With this in mind, the energy program works to take the necessary steps in order to promote a culture of change here on campus through educational and action-oriented campaigns. One big step forward was the signing of a campus carbon neutrality plan by Chancellor Bud Peterson.

Now, the administration is onboard, and the next challenge is to get students and faculty involved in the fight against Global Climate Change.  The first thing we've all got to learn is that everything we do, no matter how small, still makes a difference. It may be as easy as changing incandescent light bulbs to CFL’s, turning off lights, or using less heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer; all of these actions reduce energy use and carbon output therefore making a difference in the fight against Global Climate Change.
